Constructing a structure with massive static loads like a Fuel Storage Tank (5,000 Kiloliters) on the soft soil of Palaran presents extreme settlement risks. Even minor failure could be fatal for both the environment and operations. Geotechnical expertise was the spearhead of this project.
The foundation design was successfully implemented with settlement levels controlled within API 650 tolerance limits. The tank structure stands firm with no tilting post-hydrotest.
Our analysis revealed a soft soil layer 15 meters deep. The solution implemented was the use of Spun Piles reaching hard soil, combined with surface reinforcement to withstand the operational load of heavy equipment around the tank. Strict supervision was conducted during piling to avoid heave that could damage surrounding piles.
